About Herb Club Wakan Formula

Wakan herbs have been used in traditional Chinese medicine for at least 2,500 years and as well as being a staple in herbal medicines are often used in food. The term Wakan means ‘Herb of Japanese & Chinese origin’.

In traditional Chinese medicine the component mix of Wakan herbs is tiered with interlinked functions - and for Herb Club’s special Wakan Formula Loquat Leaf, Swertia, Sophora and Chinese Licorice are combined in the correct quantities to encourage strong hair growth, promote blood flow around the hair root and help prevent hair loss.

Loquat Leaf, Japan
The Loquat tree originates from South East China. It is part of the rosaceae family and it is also known as the Chinese and Japanese Plum. The extract encourages hair growth by stimulating blood flow to the scalp.
Swertia Japan
Swertia is the name of a wide group of plants from Asia. We use swertia japonica which contains a glycol extract and a swertia marin extract that stimulates the hair follicles and blood circulation to the hair roots.
Sophora, China
Sophora is a genus of about 45 species of small trees and shrubs. The extract that we use is from the sophora angustifolia. This particular type grows in China and is well known for stimulating hair growth. It also regulates the three cycles of the hair grow process anagen, catagen and telogen, by preventing the hair loss.
Chinese Liquorice, China
Chinese Liquorice is the extract from the root of the Glycyrrhiza Uralenis plant and is also known as Chinese Sweet root. This species of Liquorice grows in China and is part of the legume family. Chinese Liquorice is recommended for hair loss as it has an ability to regulate oestrogen hormone levels.
Jojoba Oil, Mexico
Jojoba oil is a plant sourced from the seeds of Simmondsia chinensis plant, a native of the Sonoran Desert. Jojoba works as a miracle plant for the hair and the skin. it’s an excellent emollient and moisturizing oil.
